Durham police are investigating both a murder at a nightclub early Sunday morning and a separate drive-by shooting that wounded two men Sunday afternoon.

Investigators said a fight broke out in front of Club Marvell on West Main Street about 2:30 a.m. During the argument, someone shot Sharrod McNair, 20, in the chest.

McNair later died at Duke Hospital. Investigators said they believe McNair knew his killer.

About 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon, several people were sitting on a porch in the 1900 block of Hart Street when a white Oldsmobile drove past the house, said Durham police spokeswoman Kammie Michael. The occupants of the vehicle fired several shots, Michael said.

A 22-year-old man was shot in both legs, and a 31-year-old man was shot in the left elbow. Both men were taken to Duke Hospital for treatment of their injuries, which were not thought to be life-threatening.

No charges have been filed in either shooting. Anyone with information in relation to the incidents is asked to call Durham CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200.
